July 13, 2025 – 15th Sunday in Ordinary Time

2nd Collection – July 12 & 13

It’s the 2nd weekend of the month, so it is time for our 2nd collection to help those in need in our parish and our neighborhood.  Thank you for your past generosity – the folks who call in for help are so very thankful for the help at low points in their lives.

CWA Fundraiser – July 26

The CWA will be holding a fundraising dinner on July 26th to help raise funds for the CWA commissioning celebration.  Tickets are $25 for adults and $20 for children.  There will be more info coming soon about the fundraiser and the date for the CWA commissioning. Tickets can be purchased with cash at Mass, or online here:  https://www.zeffy.com/ticketing/cwa-fundraising-dinner

St. Ann Summer Party – July 23

The date for the summer party has been set!  We hope you will join us on Wednesday, July 23rd.  Mass will begin at 5:00 PM to celebrate the Feast of St. Ann, followed our community party at 6:00 PM.  BBQ hamburgers and hotdogs and beverages will be provided, and you are invited to bring a side dish to share.  There will be fun and games for all ages.  Volunteers are needed to help with serving and monitoring activities. Contact Mark W. (509) 939-8123 if you are able to help with this fun event.

Community Wine Tasting – July 19

Join us on Saturday July 19th for our community wine tasting after Mass.  Bring a snack to share – or just yourself!

Announcements

After much discussion, the staff has agreed on a policy about announcements at Mass and for the bulletin.  We ask that the announcements be sent to the office in advance so that we review them before posting or reading at Mass. Please send any announcements to Elizabeth by Wednesday afternoon, so that she has it before Thursday when she publishes the bulletin and puts together the weekend announcements.  If a parishioner would like to make an announcement on behalf of their group, we also ask that it is shared with the staff ahead of time, preferably in writing.  We believe this will help bring order and better communication to the whole parish. Thank you for respecting this policy and the staff.

Creation Care Corner

“Praise be to you, my Lord, through Brother Wind, and through the air, cloudy and serene, and every kind of weather through whom you give sustenance to your creatures”.  St. Francis of Assisi

350 Spokane, Gonzaga Center for Climate Society and the Environment, and Spokane Regional Health District team together to provide helpful information regarding the increase of climate events which can be harmful to all of us.  We’ll strive, in this column, to disseminate some of that information.

Protect yourself from Wildfire smoke.  Wildfire smoke can cause coughing, scratchy throat, headaches, tiredness, and more!  The number of wildfires in the U.S. continues to increase annually.  With this increase it is important to recognize the variety of health effects.  Wildfire smoke can cause harm, especially to older adults (65 plus), infants and children under 18, people who are pregnant, people who smoke, and people with pre-existing health conditions.

In the summer of 2022, 77.14% of heat-related illness symptoms reported to Spokane’s 911 line were heat exhaustion.

See the informational flyer below on how to a DIY project on how to make your box fan into one that filters out smoke in your home.

Thank you to the Creation Care Team for sharing these reflections with us.

Please note: The Creation Care Team will no longer be hosting the Prayer for Creation in the Chapel on the third Sunday of each month.

Franciscan Corner

“Make me a channel of your peace… where there’s despair in life let me bring hope…” Francis of Assisi had a deep reverence and respect for priests, although he never became a priest himself. He was an ordained deacon. He reportedly said “If I saw an angel and a priest, I would bend my knee first to the priest and then to the angel.” Priests are channels of peace. Their ministry is to bring hope to the people of God, consider their ministry: they bring us the sacraments, they are often our counselors, they often bring comfort in times of crises, they are good shepherds, they remind us that God is ever present and will not abandon us. On June 26, Pope Leo attended an event marking the jubilee of seminarians and priests, entitled “Joyful Priests—I have Called your Friends”. Let us pray for, support and thank our priests for being channels of peace not only for us but for the world.

Thank you to Sr. Joanne for sharing these reflections with us.
