Church Front Porch Project
Work began on the church front porch project last week! Thank you so much to all those who donated to this project this spring. We look forward to completion of the project so everyone is able to enter the church through the front doors

St. Ann Summer Party!
Thank you to all those who attended Mass to celebrate the Feast of St. Ann on Wednesday, followed by the St. Ann summer party – and a special thanks to all those who volunteered and helped organize this fun community event. What a wonderful reminder of what a blessing our community is because of all of you! Here are a few photos of the event.
Lost & Found
A collection of lost items in the church is growing. If you are missing any water bottles, reading glasses, clothing, jewelry or a rosary please check out the lost and found table in the entry of the church this weekend.
Sunday Lunch – August 3
Each Sunday the Sunday Lunch program offers a free meal at 1:00 in the St. Ann parish hall, served by various church and civic groups. It’s St. Ann’s turn to serve Sunday Lunch on Sunday, August 3rd. Contact Susan Lopez if you would like to volunteer to help with this ministry on that day.
Creation Care Corner
“May our struggles and our concern for this planet never take away the joy of our hope” Laudato Si (244)
Although we’ve enjoyed a couple of days of respite from extreme heat this past week, it looks like extreme heat will continue for us this summer. We will continue with resources that have come to us from the Gonzaga Climate Institute.
The Spokane Community Resilience Collaborative
Started in early 2024, the Spokane Community Resilience Collaborative (SCRC) is a group of Spokane-area organizations committed to creating a thriving and resilient community. The group is comprised of representatives from diverse fields such as healthcare, education, government, and nonprofits who use their shared knowledge and expertise to support each other’s work and jointly pursue new work to support a Spokane regional community that is prepared for and adaptable to change. Facilitated by the Gonzaga Climate Institute, the SCRC primarily focuses on resilience to extreme heat and wildfire events and all their interconnected challenges.
Below is an infographic provided to us by the Gonzaga Climate Institute about the signs of heat exhaustion vs heat stroke:
Please note: The Creation Care Team will no longer be hosting the Prayer for Creation in the Chapel on the third Sunday of each month.
Thank you to the Creation Care Team for sharing these reflections with us.
Franciscan Corner
“Make me a channel of your peace… where there’s despair in life let me bring hope…” Our world is certainly in need of hope—and peace. Where are the pilgrims of hope these days? Where is Francis of Assisi to show us the way to peace? Who can you point to as a pilgrim of hope, a channel of peace? Look inside yourself, my friend. Look inside yourself. What can 1 person do, you ask? First: pray, not said lightly, not rambled off, but prayer that pleads with God for peace, persistent prayer, heart-felt prayer, longing prayer. As pilgrims of hope, let us think peace, let us breathe peace, let us be surrounded by peace, let us bring peace, let us make peace, let us be at peace, let us live peace, let us advocate for peace, may peace be in our minds, on our lips and in our hearts. By doing so we will be channels of peace and we will bring hope to hearts and places where despair may be setting in.
Thank you to Sr. Joanne for sharing these reflections with us.

He has a Masters in religious studies from Gonzaga University. He continues to work for peace and nuclear disarmament with local and national organizations. Jim and his wife Jan live in Seattle.
