August 3, 2025 – 18th Sunday in Ordinary Time

Swahili Mass – August 3

St. Ann celebrates Mass in Swahili on the first Sunday of each month.  Join us this Sunday, August 3rd, for this joyful celebration of Mass.  If you are unable to attend on Sunday, we will also enjoy the music from our Swahili choir at the Mass on Saturday.  If you would like to join the offertory procession, you are invited to bring items such as water bottles and snacks for visitors to the parish house, paper towels, tissues, or hand sanitizer for the church.

CWA Fundraiser

Thank you to all who attended the CWA fundraiser last Saturday!  And thank you to the CWA members for their hospitality – guests enjoyed an abundance of delicious food, music and a chance to learn more about the CWA.

Father Patrick Shares Memories About Cardinal Otunga

While in Nairobi, Fr. Patrick joined his friend Archbishop Philip Anyoro of the Nairobi Archdiocese along with Steve & Tresa from St. Ann parish to share his memories and experiences with Cardinal Otunga,. A video of the interview is below:

Sunday Lunch – August 3

Each Sunday the Sunday Lunch program offers a free meal at 1:00 in the St. Ann parish hall, served by various church and civic groups.  It’s St. Ann’s turn to serve Sunday Lunch on Sunday, August 3rd.  Contact Susan L. if you would like to volunteer to help with this ministry on that day.

Hot Weather Resources

Please check out the collection of flyers in the entry of the church, shared in the Creation Care Corner in the last few virtual bulletins. These flyers have information about the differences between heat exhaustion and heat stroke, protecting yourself from wildfire smoke, how to make a box fan air filter, and how to stay cool at home during hot summer weather. This information is being shared with us by the Gonzaga University Climate Institute, who in the last few years have conducted research surrounding how the Spokane community responds to extreme heat and wildfire smoke.

Creation Care Corner

“Our care for the earth and our care for one another are intimately bound together.  Climate change is one of the principal challenges facing society and the global community.”  Bishops of the United States

Would you like to volunteer for the Institute for Climate, Water, and the Environment??

As the need to address the climate crisis grows, the Climate Institute is expanding the tools we have for addressing it. With the goal of engaging community members in hands-on solution building, we are developing an email list we can use to contact community members interested in potentially volunteering their time in support of our work. At a time when it’s hard to know how to make a real difference, this will be an opportunity to engage in locally based solutions with visible and fulfilling results. At this time, we expect volunteer opportunities to be geographically limited to in or around Spokane County.

Staying Cool at Home

Thank you to the Creation Care Team for sharing these reflections with us.

Franciscan Corner

The journey and the dream

Go, rebuild my church. With those words Francis set out on an incredible journey.

He had no idea where this journey would take him. But every day he took  another step and he knew it was right.  God was his guide, always with him. ” I will be with you always….”.  Summer is a time we take trips–to see relatives, to visit historical places, to the lake and even sometimes

“stay- cations”. In all things and in all places God is already there waiting for you.  Don’t forget to say hi!

Thank you to Sr. Joanne for sharing these reflections with us.

He has a Masters in religious studies from Gonzaga University. He continues to work for peace and nuclear disarmament with local and national organizations.
