Join us at 11:00 AM on Sunday, December 7 for our Advent Reconciliation Service. Fr. Max will lead this service, and Fr. Patrick and Fr. Roy will also be available for individual reconciliation at the end of that service.
St. Ann Youth Ministry – Christmas Eve Program
The St. Ann youth will be leading us in prayer with a special program before the Christmas Eve Mass. If your child is interested in participating, parts will be assigned at the first rehearsal this Sunday, after Mass. Rehearsals will take place after the Sunday Masses during December, with a final rehearsal on December 23rd.
Christmas Mass Times
Wednesday, December 24 – Christmas Eve – Children’s Christmas program at 4:30 PM, followed by Mass at 5:00 PM. Christmas Eve reception in the hall following Mass.
December 25 – Christmas Day Mass at 10:00 AM
Christmas Cookies Needed!
St. Ann has been asked to provide 12 dozen decorated Christmas cookies for the Sunday Lunch Program’s Christmas meal on December 21st. Please bring donations of a dozen decorated Christmas cookies to the church by Saturday, December 20th.
We will also need cookies and bite sized desserts for the Christmas concert reception on December 21st, so if you’d like to bring another dozen or two for that event, you can sign up to bring sweet treats on the appetizer sign up sheet as well. Thank you in advance!
Swahili Mass – December 7
St. Ann celebrates Mass in Swahili on the first Sunday of each month. Join us on December 7th for this joyful celebration of Mass. If you are unable to attend on Sunday, you can still enjoy the Swahili choir’s music on Saturday at the 3:00 PM Mass. If you would like to bring some items for the offertory procession, useful items are water bottles, toilet paper, hand sanitizer and snacks for visitors to the house.
Ministry Map
The Parish Council handed out a “Ministry Map” after Masses last weekend. This is a new tool to learn about the many ministries at St. Ann, along with contact info for leaders of each ministry. If you didn’t get a copy, there are still copies available in the church and the office. Thank you to our Parish Council members for putting this new Ministry Map and the Ministry Fair last Sunday together!
Community Wine Tasting – January 17
Due to preparations for the St. Ann Christmas Concert on December 21st, we will not have a wine tasting in December. Our next Community Wine Tasting will be on January 17th. Bring a snack to share or just bring yourself!
St. Ann Christmas Concert – December 21
Mark your calendars for the evening of Sunday, December 21st for a Christmas concert at St. Ann, featuring beautiful music from our St. Ann choirs! This year the Christmas concert will be in the church – with a reception in the hall before and after the concert. This is a free community event, but we will need volunteers to help make it happen. There are lots of opportunities to donate your time – from cleaning and decorating the church and hall, to helping serve at the reception. Sign up sheets are available after Mass. Thank you to everyone who has already signed up!
The Longest Night Zoom Prayer Service – December 22nd.
The Sunday Zoom prayer service meets every Sunday at 7:00 PM on Zoom. However in order to allow people to attend the St. Ann Christmas Concert on December 21st, there will not be a Zoom prayer Service that Sunday. Instead, there will be a prayer service on Zoom for “The Longest Night” at 7:00 PM on Monday, December 22nd. The Longest Night service is a powerful prayer service that focuses on acknowledging the pain and hurt many experience, in the midst of the joy and expectation during this season, and is scheduled around the winter solstice. The Zoom link will be included in the virtual bulletin for the 4th Sunday of Advent.
Catholic Charities Christmas Collection
Catholic Charities is asking for support for their annual Christmas Collection in order to support their work to “Feed the Hungry, Heal the Hurting and Welcome the Stranger.” This year instead of donation envelopes, there are cards and posters in the entry of the church with a QR code to use to make your donation, to save on the cost of postage. Or you can use the donation link below.

Annual Catholic Appeal update
Thank you to everyone who has contributed to this year’s Annual Catholic Appeal so far. As of December 4th, we have raised $34,135.00, which is 86.08% of our goal of $39,653.00. If you would like to make a donation to help St. Ann reach our goal, there are donation envelopes next to the bulletins and a link to the online giving page on our website: https://stannsspokane.org/giving/
Creation Care Corner
For believers the universe reflects the face of Jesus Christ, in whom all things were created and redeemed.” Pope Leo XIV in Seeds of Peace and Hope. He goes on to denounce environmental and social justice, noting that God’s creation is not intended to be a battleground for vital resources.
In preparation for the Advent Reconciliation Service we offer a little food for thought:
Do I ask for the grace to see creation as God does – in all its splendor and suffering?
Do we see the beauty of creation and hear the cries of the earth and the poor?
Do I ask for the grace to look closely to see how my life choices impact creation and the poor and vulnerable?
How can I turn away from a throwaway culture and instead stand in solidarity with creation and the poor?
Where have I fallen short in caring for creation and my brothers and sisters?
How can I repair my relationship with creation and make choices consistent with my desire for reconciliation with creation?
Thank you to the Creation Care Team for sharing these reflections with us.
