Swahili Mass – February 1
St. Ann celebrates Mass in Swahili at 9:00 AM on the first Sunday of each month. Join us this Sunday for this joyful celebration of Mass. If you would like to participate in the offertory procession, you are invited to bring items such as water bottles and snacks for visitors to the parish house, or items like paper towels, toilet paper, and hand sanitizer for parish use.
Eucharistic Ministers Needed
The liturgy committee along with Father Patrick have decided that St. Ann will resume celebrating Communion from the cup along with the host every week, instead of just for Solemnities. In order to do this, we will need more volunteers to serve as Eucharistic ministers at each Mass to serve our community. If you are interested in serving as a Eucharistic minister to distribute communion from the cup so that we can schedule an additional 2 Eucharistic Ministers for each Mass, please contact Elizabeth at communityofstann@gmail.com
Thank you from Matthew 25!
Thank you to the generosity of those who donated to the Matthew 25 fundraiser. We have raised $13,512.00 after paying for the venue and band – and donations are still coming in. Thank you to the members of the Matthew 25 Ministry who worked so hard to put together a very successful fundraiser last Saturday. Attendees enjoyed music by the Mardi Gras Growlers, songs and dancing by our African community, and listened to speakers Luisa Orellana and Greg Cunningham share about the work Matthew 25 is doing to accompany immigrants and refugees to help with legal aid and other support.

If you would still like to make a donation to Matthew 25, there is now a tab on tithely for Matthew 25 (Just click on the funds tab at the top of the form.). Use the Giving button on the website to navigate to tithely, or use the link below:

February 3 – Emergent Horizons: A Generational Strategy “At Work in the Ruins” of U.S. Democracy to Revitalize Environmental Law
Date: Tuesday, February 3
Time: 6pm PT
Location: Zoom
Free and open to the public
Event co-sponsored by the Gonzaga University School of Law
Speaker: Erik Schlenker-Goodrich, Executive Director, Western Environmental Law Center
We are “at work in the ruins” of U.S. democracy. This is a provocative assertion. But it is one increasingly difficult to dispute given the collision of political, social, economic, and ecological crises that U.S. institutions and systems have helped accelerate and failed to remedy. Bedrock environmental laws have withered as a result, compelling us to now seek new paths that lead us away from the ruins of what was to the promise of what can be: A thriving western U.S., abundant with protected and interconnected ecosystems, powered by renewable energy, and cared for by communities brought together in an ecology of kinship. This effort—which we call Emergent Horizons—is our enduring commitment to serve as a pathfinder and spark a movement-wide effort to revitalize the domain of environmental law.
About the speaker: Erik Schlenker-Goodrich is the executive director of the Western Environmental Law Center, working from Taos, New Mexico. He is a seasoned litigator and policy advocate at the federal and state level whose work centers on the protection of ecological resilience and a just transition from fossil fuels. Erik is a graduate of Cornell University with a B.S. in natural resources and concentration in American Indian Studies. He earned his law degree and a certificate in environmental & natural resources law from the University of Oregon School of Law.

The Mission of Saint Ann Catholic Church is to live the Good News of Jesus Christ. To create a family and community of faith that lives with integrity and justice. To care for those who are vulnerable, and to treat one another and all those we encounter with dignity and respect.
