February 16, 2025 – 6th Sunday in Ordinary Time

Prayer for Creation – February 16

The Social Justice Ministry’s Creation Care Team offers a chance to gather in the Chapel at 8:15 AM on the 3rd Sunday of each month for a Prayer for Creation.  This is a wonderful way to prepare oneself for Mass, with time for shared and quiet prayer.  Please join us before Mass on Sunday, February 16th.

Get Reminders About Parish Events

If you would like to receive reminder messages about upcoming parish events, so you don’t hear about or remember about events after the fact – we have a new tool to help.  We have signed up for a program called “Remind” that is very easy to sign up for.  Just text saintanncc to 81010 – or follow this link https://www.remind.com/join/saintanncc – and sign up as a “student” to join.

Save the Date!   Mardi Gras at St. Ann – March 1

It’s a long standing tradition at St. Ann to celebrate Mardi Gras on the Saturday before Ash Wednesday – so mark your calendars for March 1st for the St. Ann Mardi Gras celebration.  Our hospitality ministry is also looking for members to help put on this fun community event, and will be asking for volunteers in the coming weeks. Contact the parish office if you’d like more information.

Social Justice Ministry Education Series

The Social Justice Ministry’s  education series called “A Change is Gonna Come” continues with part two of the talk on the issues around Christian Nationalism this Sunday February 16th, in the church after Mass. The first part of this talk was very informative and brought about some good conversation. Please join us, whether you were able to attend part one or not!

Creation Care Corner

“All things will be well, every manner of thing will be well.”  Julian of Norwich

Many national programs that advance and promote social justice in the United States and globally have lost funding or are under threat of losing federal funding, including Gonzaga Climate Center.  Some days we are so overwhelmed we simply must pray.

From Martin Luther King, Jr.:

[Let us] “join with the Earth and each other to bring new life to the land, to restore the waters, to refresh the  air, to renew the forests, to care for the plants, to protect creatures, to celebrate the seasons, to rejoice in the sunlight, to sing the song of the stars, to recall our destiny, to renew our spirits, to recreate the human community, to promote justice and peace, to love our children and one another, to join together as many and diverse expressions of one loving mystery, for the healing of the Earth and the renewal of all life.”

From Julian of Norwich:

God is the goodness in nature.

God is the same thing as nature.

God is the very essence of nature.

Grace and nature are all aspects of a single goodness and where one operates, all are operating with us.

God will refill what is lacking and restore us with the action of mercy and grace, which will abundantly pour into us from Divinity’s own natural goodness.

All things will be well, every manner of thing will be well.

Thank you to the Creation Care Team for sharing with us!

Franciscan Corner

Make me a channel of your peace. Who needs peace today?  Holy Year 2025:  Be pilgrims of hope. “Where there’s despair let me bring hope”. ” They’ll know we are Christians by our love..” Love reaches out. Who in your world  needs peace, who needs  hope, who needs love? What action are you willing to take this week to be that channel, that pilgrim, that Christian?

Thank you to Sr. Joanne for sharing these reflections with us!
