January 12, 2025 – Baptism of the Lord

Social Justice Ministry Education Series

The Social Justice Ministry is also putting together an education series called “A Change is Gonna Come.”  This series will begin on Sunday, January 26 with a screening of a short film called Mother Kuskokwim, followed by discussion, over in the parish house after Mass.  This film is a short documentary on how climate change affects a Native Alaskan community located in the Yukon-Kuskokwim River Delta.  The education series will continue in February with a two part talk on Sunday February 2nd and 16th.

Social Justice Ministry Meeting – January 15

The Social Justice Ministry will meet on Wednesday, January 15 at 6:30 PM on Zoom. Contact the parish office at communityofstann@gmail.com for the Zoom link if you would like to attend, or would like more information about what the Social Justice Ministry is working on at St. Ann.

2nd Collection – January 11 & 12

On the 2nd weekend of the month, St. Ann has a 2nd Collection to help those in need in our parish and our neighborhood.  Thank you for your generosity. The office receives a number of calls each week from neighbors asking for help with utility bills, and we were also able to offer extra Christmas help to some families in our parish and to three families in Kenya this year.

Community Wine Tasting – January 18

Join us in the parish hall after Mass on Saturday, January 18th for our monthly community wine tasting. Bring a snack to share if you’d like – or just bring yourself!

Prayer for Creation – January 19

Join the Creation Care Team for a prayer for Creation before Mass on Sunday, January 19th at 8:15 AM in the Chapel.  This is a wonderful way to prepare yourself for Mass.

Franciscan Corner

“Make me an instrument of your peace…Where there is despair, let me bring hope”.  “I was hungry and you gave me to eat. I was thirsty and you gave me to drink”. Be a Pilgrim of Hope to give nourishment to those who are food insecure.  For example, Volunteer to serve food at a “Women’s and Children Free Restaurant” or other “soup kitchen”, plan and implement a food drive for a food pantry during Lent, partner with Catholic Relief Services that provides food and other necessities to those suffering from the effects of war or other hardship.  “As long as you did it to one of these, the least of my brethren, you did it to Me”.

Thank you to Sr. Joanne for sharing these reflections with us!
