November 9, 2025 –  The Dedication of the Lateran Basilica

Saturday Mass Time Change – November 8th

Due to the change to Standard Time, our Saturday Mass time is changing to 3:00 PM beginning this Saturday, November 8th.

Prayer Request for Hector

We ask for continued prayers for Hector Garcia, our parishioner who was detained in theTacoma Northwest Detention Center for the past few weeks, and who has now been moved to a detention facility in New Mexico. We pray for justice for Hector.

The Matthew 25 Ministry meets after Mass  on the 2nd and 4th Sunday of the month if you would like more information about how to help.

November Remembrances

In November we remember those who have gone before us into New Life. At each of the Masses and the Zoom prayer service through the month of November, we will read the names of our loved ones who have passed during the prayers of the faithful. If you have new names you would like us to read, you can add them to a sheet in the front pew of the church, or email the parish office at info@stannsspokane.org.

There is also a binder filled with photos of our loved ones who have passed in the back of the church by the candles, which you are invited to look through.

2nd Collection

It’s the 2nd weekend of the month, so it’s time for our 2nd collection to help those in need in our parish and our neighborhood.  Thank you for your past generosity to our 2nd collection for social concerns which allows us to help our neighbors and parishioners in need.

Thanksgiving Day Mass – 10:00 AM

There will be a Thanksgiving Day Mass at St. Ann on Thursday, November 27th at 10:00 AM. Join us to celebrate with gratitude for our blessings from God this year.

2025-26 Sunday Missals

The new Sunday Missals for 2025-26 are now available, with a suggested donation of $5.00 to help cover the cost. You can pick one up in the front pew of the church, or from the parish office.

2026 Calendars

Thanks to the generosity of Holy Cross Cemetery, our parish has been gifted calendars again this year.  The 2026 calendars are free and have our parish contact information printed on them. They are available in the front pew and in the entry of the church, so please pick one up next time you come to St. Ann.

Annual Catholic Appeal

Thank you to everyone who has contributed to this year’s Annual Catholic Appeal so far. This year our parish goal is $39,653.00. As of November 6, we have raised $30,810.00 which is 77.7% of our goal.

Please prayerfully consider how you can support St. Ann to reach our ACA goal this year, and be sure to mark your donation for St. Ann Spokane so that your donation goes towards our goal.

Safe Environment Training

All volunteers and parishioners who work with children are required by the Diocese of  Spokane to take part in Safe Environment training. We have instructions available for how to sign in to the new system the diocese is using, or to create a new account if you are doing the training for the first time. You can contact the parish office or our safe environment coordinator for more information.

Letter from Abdullah

We have received a message from Abdullah, the Palestinian student who St. Ann has been helping with education expenses for the past two years, thanks to generous donations.

To my wonderful and kind-hearted Community of Saint Ann

In our culture, calling someone “the crown of my head / Taj Rassi” is a way of showing the highest respect and love. It means you are sacred to me — symbols of kindness, generosity, and heartfelt care. You’re the Crown of my head.

Every time I try to write to you, words fall short. I can never fully express how grateful I am. you have made me feel seen , valued, and supported – and that feeling has lifted such a heavy burden off my heart.

I love you and thank you from the bottom of my heart — you are truly the Crown of my head. Your kindness and care over the past two years have made my university journey lighter, brighter, and full of meaning. I’ll always carry your warmth and encouragement with me, wherever life takes me next.

With love and endless gratitude

Faithfully,

 Abdullah

Salam Maria fundraiser

The book “Salam Maria” – which is “Hail Mary” in Swahili – is available in the front pew of the church, or in the parish office, for a suggested $10 donation  The money from this fundraiser will go towards helping youth in rural Kenya.  Although the title of the book is in Swahili, the book is in English and is an informative resource for praying the rosary.

Donations may be made in cash or by check, or paid online (and picked up in person):  https://www.zeffy.com/en-US/ticketing/salam-maria-book-fundraiser

Creation Care Corner

“If the only prayer you ever say in your entire life is thank you, it will be enough…”  Meister Eckhart, German theologian and Mystic

We can be thankful that our Church, in her wisdom, has chosen an abundance of readings in our Lectionary that celebrate and/or incorporate creation.  The first reading from Ezekiel this week includes water flowing from the temple eastward and wherever it flows, there is an abundance of life.  In the gospels there are many references to creation: on a hillside, a mustard seed, the Sea of Galilee.  The Eucharistic Prayer includes, “Blessed are you, Lord, God of all creation…”  Many of the songs and hymns we sing are a celebration of creation. Canticle of the Sun begins, “The heavens are telling the glory of God, and all creation is shouting for joy, come dance in the forest, come play in the field, and sing, sing to the glory of the Lord.”  We are richly blessed by our worship each Sunday as all of creation is included in our communal celebration.

ACTION:  Through this entire month, which includes Thanksgiving, let’s listen for all the references to God’s amazing creation!  And give thanks!

December 2:  “There is no Justice without Environmental Justice”  Gonzaga Climate Center (4 p.m. on Zoom)  https://www.gonzaga.edu/climate-institute/events#December2

Thank you to the Creation Care Team for sharing these reflections with us.
