Farewell to Fr. Roy
Last Sunday the St. Ann community wished Fr. Roy a safe trip home and thanked him for all he’s done for St. Ann while studying in Spokane. Fr. Roy expressed his gratitude for the support our community has given him, as well. We hope Fr. Roy traveled home safely… and that we’ll see him again back in Spokane one day!

Annual Catholic Appeal
Thank you to everyone who has contributed to this year’s Annual Catholic Appeal so far. As of January 8th, we have raised $38,310.00 which is 96.61% of our goal of $39,653.0. We’re only $1,343 short of our goal! If you would like to make a donation to help St. Ann reach our goal, there are donation envelopes next to the bulletins and a link to the online giving page on our website: https://stannsspokane.org/giving/
Creation Care Corner
“We must pray for the conversion of many people, inside and outside of the Church, who still do not recognize the urgency of caring for our common home,” Pope Leo XIV said while celebrating a new formulary of the Mass “for the care of creation.”
Five Tips for Sustainable Living (from the Sierra Club)
#1. Skip fast fashion. While eco brands can be expensive, the clothing usually lasts longer, and many brands offer repair policies. An affordable option is to purchase used clothing through thrift or vintage shops. Also, you might consider repairing clothing and shoes you currently own.
#2. Eat less meat, buy food locally. You don’t need to go 100% vegan for your diet to have a positive environmental impact. The third and fourth best climate change solutions are reducing food waste and eating a plant-rich diet. Cutting back on meat and dairy whenever possible can make a difference! Buy locally sourced food to reduce transportation costs.
#3. Recycle and even compost. Some localities are better than others at recycling plastics, but often glass, cardboard, and aluminum are highly recyclable. Check local rules. Composting is an even more impactful way to reduce waste and act on climate! If you don’t have compost pick-up, consider making your own compost pile.
#4. Bank more responsibly. Put your money in banks that don’t fund polluting fossil fuels. Switch to banks listed at Bank.Green, or credit unions.
#5. Drive Less. Your actions, large and small, matter. Significant life changes such as going solar, switching to an electric car or a hybrid, and installing a heat pump are super helpful for the environment if you can possibly afford them. What you ARE doing matters!
Thank you to the creation care team for sharing these reflections with us!
