St. Ann Youth – Sunday Lunch
Thank you to our St. Ann Youth for preparing and serving Sunday Lunch last weekend! It was an excellent opportunity for our youth to support the community and to bond with one another. A special thank you to Robbie, Hannah, and Jeff for coordinating and leading the youth in the kitchen, and to Father Patrick and Mark Westbrook for their encouragement.

A sincere thank you to all the musicians filling in for Sonia and Michel this month, especially George, Ryan, and Luisa. Music enriches the prayerfulness of the Mass, and we are very grateful to have these talented individuals willing to share their gifts with our community.
Community Gathering after Saturday Mass – July 18
Our monthly community gathering takes place after Mass in the parish hall. It’s a great opportunity to socialize with others over snacks and conversation. We warmly welcome you to join us.
Message from Parish Staff – Safety Reminder
Father Patrick and the Parish staff are concerned about children’s safety at St. Ann. We ask parents and guardians to ensure that an adult accompanies children to the restroom in the hall during Mass. Adults are also encouraged to supervise children playing on church grounds after Mass and during events to prevent accidents. Please note that the church and parish house are not designated play areas, and eating is permitted only in the hall or outside. Donuts should be enjoyed in these areas, not inside the church. Thank you for helping us maintain a safe environment and for respecting our sacred spaces.
Matthew 25 Prayer Vigil – August 16
Members of the St. Ann Matthew 25 Ministry will hold a prayer vigil on Sunday, August 16, from 4:00 to 5:00 PM, in front of the Thomas Foley U.S. Courthouse on Riverside. This event offers an opportunity to unite in prayer for refugees and immigrants in detention. It is a prayer vigil, not a protest, so please refrain from bringing signs or flags. An informational flyer is available at the church entrance and in the virtual bulletin.
Summer Break for Craig’s Discussion Group
Craig’s Discussion group that meets on Monday afternoons on Zoom is taking a break for the summer and will resume meeting on August 24 to discuss the second half of Richard Rohr’s “The Universal Christ.” Contact the parish office if you are interested in joining the group in August.
Creation Care Corner
“Consumption in developed nations remains the single greatest source of global environmental destruction.” US Catholic Bishops
In the Spring/Summer of 2022 our Creation Care Team put out a survey to the parish asking for suggestions on what you thought would move us in the direction of helping to heal our planet from the effects of climate change. Below are many of your responses. Four years later, this is a look back. How are we doing?
-In place of heavy, plastic jugs of liquid laundry detergent consider laundry detergent eco-sheets. The entire sheet dissolves in the washing machine and does not harm the environment. The packaging is a paper envelope that is completely recyclable.
-In place of plastic wrap consider a waxed paper product like Press’n Seal which also gets the job done.
-Replace baggies with glass containers with lids or a re-usable, washable “baggie” that comes in several sizes
-An energy audit of the parish facilities.
-Encourage all parish groups to continue to recycle and reduce the use of plastics.
-Use no Styrofoam, as it never degrades.
-Hold our stewardship of God‘s creation in prayer.
-Use less, buy less
-Encourage ridesharing for parish events, as well as for worship.
-Conserve water by limiting grass & installing drip systems throughout yard
-Plant a yard to contribute to the pollinators and birds
-Consider growing vegetables using organic processes
-Several folks suggested eating less beef & dairy
-Contribute to political campaigns which support climate sustainability
-Buy local: it reduces transportation costs and cuts our the middleman costs & gives us a healthier local economy. The same goes for your fruit and vegetables AND they taste better. Consider eating only fresh vegetables and fruit “in season”.
-Take a look in your bathroom, your shower, your kitchen sink area & your cleaning product cupboard and notice how much plastic! A few ways to reduce that is to switch back to hard soap instead of body-wash. There are also bars of shampoo available instead of a plastic bottle. Consider using ceramic soap holders at all of your sinks. Switch out your cleaning products to ones you can make at home. There are plenty of recipes on the internet.

The Sunday evening Zoom prayer service continues to be a prayerful gathering for some of our parishioners. The 7:00 PM service on Sundays is a chance to pray and share together. Contact the parish office at communityofstann@gmail.com if you are interested in attending this prayer service.
St. John Vianney Rummage Sale
St. John Vianney is having a Rummage Sale on July 23 – 25. The sale will be in the school gym at 416 N Farr Rd. They are accepting donations from 9:00-Noon on weekdays from July 6-17. See flyer below for more details about dates and hours for the sale and what types of donations are accepted.
Restroom Usage During Mass – Safety Reminder
The restroom key has been moved to the west side door of the church for easier access. To ensure children’s safety, adults must accompany all children to the restroom in the parish hall during Mass. Thank you for helping us keep everyone safe!
