Sunday Lunch Program & Corner Laundry – Donations Needed

Donations are needed for Sunday Lunch and the Corner Laundry. The Sunday Lunch Program is getting low on coffee and sticks of butter.  The Corner Laundry can always use donations of laundry detergent. And the Rompa House can use donations of toiletries, toilet paper, and cleaning supplies, or new or lightly used games and puzzles for the residents.

St. Ann will be serving Sunday Lunch this Sunday, October 18. If you’d like to help, contact Susan Lopez, or check in with the team after coffee and donuts.

Rosary for Peace – October 31

Parishioners are invited to pray the rosary for peace in our world on Saturday October 31st at 12 noon. If you would like more information or would like to volunteer to help with the rosary, contact the parish office.  In the future, the rosary for peace will be held at 12 noon on the 1st Saturday of each month.  All are welcome!

Daylight Saving Time Ends – November 1st

A reminder that Daylight Saving Time ends on Sunday, November 1st – so remember to turn your clock back one hour before you go to bed Saturday night. On the following Saturday – November 7 –  our Mass time will change to 3:00 PM.

Remember to Vote!  Election day is November 3

“Catholic teaching calls each of us to participate in public life, especially through voting, to serve the common good.”  (Pope John Paul II).

If you are eligible to vote, make sure you are registered!  Election day for the mid-term elections is November 3rd – but ballots are mailed out beginning 18 days before the election and you can vote and turn in your ballot as soon as you receive your ballot in the mail.

See flyer below (in English and in Spanish) for information on how to register to vote – and   see the path of the ballot for secure voting in Washington state.

Creation Care Corner

“Environmental sustainability and the care of creation are essential commitments to ensure the survival of the human race.  They have a direct impact on the organization of peaceful and cooperative human existence.”

– Pope Leo XIV

Manage Autumn Waste

  • Leave the leaves: Instead of bagging up fallen autumn leaves to be sent to a landfill, rake them directly into your garden beds or under shrubs. Best yet, if you can, don’t rake or shred them, just leave them be!  They act as a natural mulch. To compost them, bury them in your garden rather than tossing them in the trash, where they break down and produce methane.

Plan ahead for your pumpkins

    • If you decorate with pumpkins or gourds this month, make a plan for how you can:
  • Chop and compost them: Cut the pumpkin into smaller pieces and add it to your compost bin to enrich the soil.
    • Bury for fertilizer:  Bury small chunks directly into your garden soil to release slow nutrients for your plants
    • Avoid landfills:  Discarding pumpkins in regular trash creates methane gas as they rot in landfills.

Thank you to the Creation Care Team for sharing with us!
