Backpacks for Hope – Thank you!

Thank you to the parishioners who donated school supplies for the Nazareth Guild & Catholic Charities “Backpacks for Hope” school supply drive to help students impacted by the Spokane fires. They were able to hand out 300 backpacks to students in need on Tuesday!

Matthew 25 Prayer Vigil

Thank you to the Matthew 25 Ministry members who organized the Prayer Vigil at the US Courthouse on Sunday August 16…. and to the parishioners who attended in spite of the heat.  It was an opportunity to stand in solidarity with people held in detention centers, as well as to pray for those impacted by the Spokane fires… and ended with a call to action and a reminder to reach out to check on our neighbors.  The St. Ann Matthew 25 Ministry plans to hold another prayer vigil in October.    

Craig’s Discussion Group Resumes August 24

Craig’s Discussion group that meets on Monday afternoons on Zoom took a break for the summer but  will resume meeting on Monday, August 24 to discuss the second half of Richard Rohr’s “The Universal Christ.” Contact the parish office if you are interested in joining the group in August. 

Creation Care Corner

SEASON OF CREATION – SEPT. 1 – OCT. 4

The Harvest Table at Weekend Masses, Sept. 5 – Oct. 4

4:00 Mass.  Place food items on the table in the vestibule of the church.

9:00 Mass.  Place food items on the table in the NE corner of the Parish Hall

We are excitedly looking forward to celebrating the Season of Creation in the parish!  We will have the Harvest Table throughout the season after the weekend Masses.   The first weekend is Sept. 5 & 6. We are all invited to share the abundance from our gardens.  Please bring your tomatoes, your cucumbers, your dill, your herbs, potatoes and squash, carrots and rutabagas, onions, and garlic.  Bring your plums, your apples, or any other fruits you have grown. Bring whatever you’re good at growing to share with others. 

Other Season of Creation Events:

• Meatless Potluck – Sept. 26 following 4:00 Mass
• Celebration of Creation through Prayer, Music and Movement – Sept. 27 following 9:00 Mass. 
• Blessing of Animals  (with photos, soft toys, or drawing of your pet):  Oct. 4 (Feast of St. Francis) at the 9:00 Mass.

Sunday Zoom Prayer Service –  7:00 PM

The Sunday evening Zoom prayer service continues to be a prayerful gathering for some of our parishioners. The 7:00 PM service on Sundays is a chance to pray and share together. Contact the parish office at communityofstann@gmail.com  if you are interested in attending this prayer service.

Help low-income seniors and adults with disabilities remain independent by assisting  with light household tasks, routine yard care, food delivery or driving to medical appointments or for groceries.

☩ Easy to help: One-time and ongoing opportunities. Flexible schedule (as little as 2 hrs/month). Individuals, families, businesses and groups are welcome.

Kiwanis Club of East Spokane Fundraiser – December 2

Kiwanis Club of East Spokane has supported the St. Ann Sunday Lunch Program with grants in the past.  Support the work of the Kiwanis Club of East Spokane and the Mission Community Outreach Center in Spokane as they present a Civic Theater Benefit performance of Cinderella on December 2, 2026.  Happy Hour is at 6:00 PM, followed by the performance at 7:30 PM.  Call or email MCOC at 509 536-1084 or mcoc.spokane@gmail.com for tickets. 

Youth Safety Reminder – Message from Parish Staff 

Father Patrick and the Parish staff are concerned about children’s safety at St. Ann. We ask parents and guardians to ensure that an adult accompanies children to the restroom in the hall during Mass. Adults are also encouraged to supervise children playing on church grounds after Mass and during events to prevent accidents. Please note that the church and parish house are not designated play areas, and eating is permitted only in the hall or outside. Donuts should be enjoyed in these areas, not inside the church. Thank you for helping us maintain a safe environment and for respecting our sacred spaces.

Restroom Usage During Mass 

The restroom key has been moved to the west side door of the church for easier access. To ensure children’s safety, adults must accompany all children to the restroom in the parish hall during Mass. Thank you for helping us keep everyone safe!
