August 16, 2026 – Twentieth Sunday in Ordinary Time

Baptisms – Sunday, August 16

On Sunday, August 16, we will celebrate several baptisms and sacraments at the 9:00 AM Mass. We hope you will celebrate with us as we welcome these new members to the church.  Congratulations to Alan, Tony, Kate, Isaac and Autumn!

Matthew 25 Prayer Vigil – August 16

Members of the St. Ann Matthew 25 Ministry will hold a prayer vigil on Sunday, August 16, from 4:00 to 5:00 PM, in front of the Thomas Foley U.S. Courthouse on Riverside. This event offers an opportunity to unite in prayer for refugees and immigrants in detention. It is a prayer vigil, not a protest, so please refrain from bringing signs or flags. An informational flyer is available at the church entrance and in the virtual bulletin.

Nazareth Guild – Faith Through the Fire Relief Fund

The Nazareth Guild and Office of Education for the Diocese of Spokane are asking for your help in supporting Catholic school families who have been impacted by the recent wildfires. Through Nazareth Guild’s Faith Through the Fire initiative, we are coming together as one Catholic community to help provide school supplies for Catholic school children whose families have lost so much. We invite parishioners to bring donated supplies to the parish this Saturday or Sunday during Mass. (See list of needed supplies below the graphic).  Nazareth Guild will collect the items and prepare backpacks for Catholic school students on Monday and Tuesday. If parishioners would like to volunteer to help pack the backpacks, they can contact Nazareth Guild at: info@nazarethguild.org or call 509-744-3259.

There is a list of needed school supplies for the “Backpacks for Hope” drive below – or you can donate online to support Catholic school students and families affected by the Spokane fires here:  https://nazarethguild.app.neoncrm.com/forms/donate

How You Can Help Those Affected by Spokane Wildfires

Catholic Charities  Spokane Complex Fire and Eastern Washington Fires Relief:

As the message from the Diocese of Spokane last week reminded us, our prayers must always become action. Faith calls us not only to pray for our neighbors but to care for them. Thank you to all those who donated to our Social Concerns 2nd collection for Wildfire Relief last weekend at Mass. If you were unable to donate last weekend at Mass, you can donate to the Catholic Charities Spokane Complex Fire Relief Fund.

Below is the link to the Catholic Charities of Eastern Washington online giving page to donate to their Spokane Wildfire Relief fund, as well as a form to access if you are in need of assistance. Both links can be found here: https://www.cceasternwa.org/fire-assistance

Creation Care Corner

Healing this Holy Earth

Lie quietly along the earth

that sky may send its strength through you

     into the spinning planet.

Absorb from eons of tumultuous change,

the rhythms pulsing up through fire and water,

rock and roots of growing things.

Your body filtering with flesh and spirit,

earth’s vibrant offering to the sky.

You are the instrument of peace,

the promise of renewal to a time and place

     not of your body.

But dependent on your willingness to give yourself

      to earth and sky.

to make belief in goodness shape

     a thousand years to come.

May blessings be your gift, both given and received.

Great spirit, father of us all,

     Dear mother earth,

     Combine your might

     And use our love

To make this body whole, for now and forever.

-Judith Billings

Youth Safety Reminder – Message from Parish Staff

Father Patrick and the Parish staff are concerned about children’s safety at St. Ann. We ask parents and guardians to ensure that an adult accompanies children to the restroom in the hall during Mass. Adults are also encouraged to supervise children playing on church grounds after Mass and during events to prevent accidents. Please note that the church and parish house are not designated play areas, and eating is permitted only in the hall or outside. Donuts should be enjoyed in these areas, not inside the church. Thank you for helping us maintain a safe environment and for respecting our sacred spaces.

Restroom Usage During Mass

The restroom key has been moved to the west side door of the church for easier access. To ensure children’s safety, adults must accompany all children to the restroom in the parish hall during Mass. Thank you for helping us keep everyone safe!

The Mission of Saint Ann Catholic Church is to live the Good News of Jesus Christ. To create a family and community of faith that lives with integrity and justice. To care for those who are vulnerable, and to treat one another and all those we encounter with dignity and respect.
