Currently small basic appliances and kitchen tools are needed for their employees who are joining the workforce and gaining housing. If you have usable items to donate for these new households please contact Tresa S. or Susan L. (509 995-2542) for easy drop off directions near the church.

Franciscan Corner

“Make me a channel of your peace…. Where there’s despair in life, let me bring hope…” Palm Sunday. Processions with palms in our hands. It must have been a sight to see Francis and his brothers walking around Assisi together, or coming home from Mt Laverna, or climbing up from San Damiano. It was always a procession when Francis and his band of brothers came to town. People would stand in their doorways and at first might have asked: Who are they? What are they doing? There weren’t this many last week! Where have they been? Because these “trips” were not a “one and done” thing, the people started looking for them. Will they come today? I hope I don’t miss them. Why? There was a sense of peace about them, there was a sense of compassion about them, there was a sense of calm. Their presence spoke a word of hope to the weary. Our world is weary right now. Can we bring hope to our time? Can we bring peace, hope, compassion by our presence, by our “walking” together? As we begin this week walking together with palms in our hands, let’s walk together this week and bring a word of hope to the weary, a ray of sunshine to the darkness. What other procession will you be in this week? What purpose driven group will you be with? What word can you speak to those in your circle who may be weary? Where there is despair in life– bring hope! Be a pilgrim of hope this Holy Week!

Thank you to Sr. Joanne for sharing these reflections with us!
