August 24, 2025 –  21st Sunday in Ordinary Time

Bell Tower & Plaster Project

Work began on the bell tower project this weekend. On Saturday they cleaned and removed the rotting ceiling and on Sunday they built a new ceiling, sending each piece up  by pulley. Thank you to all the volunteers who helped Josh work to clean out the tower and replace the ceiling of the bell tower.  Josh is waiting on the new rope to arrive and hopes to install that soon!

Congratulations!

We offer our congratulations to Amy S. who was welcomed into the church at St. Ann on Sunday, August 17th.  Please offer your support & prayers to our newest member as she continues on her faith journey.

Salam Maria fundraiser

Creation Care Corner

Pope Francis began the Encyclical Laudato Si’ with the words of St. Francis.  “Praise be to you, my Lord, through our sister, Mother Earth, who sustains and governs us, and who produces various fruit with colored flowers and herbs.”

Catholic priests will now be able to celebrate Mass “for the care of creation” after the Vatican announced that a new formulary of prayers and biblical readings for the Mass will be added to the Roman Missal — the liturgical book that contains the texts for celebrating Mass in the Roman Rite of the Catholic Church.

The new formulary, or specific set of texts and prayers for Mass, will be added among the “civil needs” section of the “Masses and Prayers for Various Needs and Occasions” listed in the Roman Missal.  The formulary for the Mass began development during Pope Francis’ pontificate in response to “requests for a liturgical way of celebrating the meaning and the message of Laudato Si’,” said Cardinal Michael Czerny, prefect of the Dicastery for Promoting Integral Human Development.   Pope Leo XIV first used the new formulary for a private Mass July 9 with the staff of Borgo Laudato Si’ ecology project — a space for education and training in integral ecology hosted in the gardens of the papal villa at Castel Gandolfo, the traditional summer residence for the popes.

Thank you to the Creation Care Team for sharing these reflections with us.

Franciscan Corner

Andy Williams sang “To dream the impossible dream, to fight the unbeatable foe, to bear with unbearable sorrow, to run where the brave dare not go…. ” This could be the theme of the life of Francis. He dreamed  the impossible dream–rebuild the church!  He fought the unbeatable foe–corruption in the church. He bore unbearable sorrow – those who followed him changed his vision.  He went where the brave dare not go – to befriend the leper, the outcast. That was his quest, no matter how hopeless, no matter how far. What is your quest? Are you willing to follow it, no matter how hopeless, no matter how far…?

Thank you to Sr. Joanne for sharing these reflections with us.
