Lenten Theme and Events
The theme for Lent this year is “Journey Together with Hope” – following the theme of hope that Pope Francis has suggested for Lent. See below for parish events during Lent.
Prayer & Soup – 6:00 PM on Fridays
Prayer & Soup on Fridays begins March 14. Join us in the church at 6:00 PM for Stations of the Cross, followed by a meatless soup meal in the parish hall. Sign up sheets for volunteers for soup and for prayer leaders and readers will be available this weekend at Mass, or you can contact the parish office to sign up.
Lenten Penance Service – April 6
The Lenten Penance Service is scheduled for April 6, after the 9:00 AM Mass (at about 10:30 AM). Several priests will be available for individual reconciliation at the end of that service.
CRS Rice Bowls
“Rice Bowls” from Catholic Relief Services are available for those who would like to use them during Lent. A Lenten calendar with prayers, stories and actions is included with each “rice bowl”.
Prayer for Creation
The Climate Care Team leads a prayer for creation on the 3rd Sunday of each month at 8:15 AM in the Chapel. Join them on Sunday, March 16, for time to pray for our earth.
Bishop Daly at St. Ann – March 16
Bishop Daly will be celebrating Mass at St. Ann on Sunday March 16, at our 9:00 AM Mass. Join us in making Bishop Daly feel welcome at St. Ann!
Community Wine Tasting – March 15
Join us after the 4:00 PM Mass for our once a month community wine tasting. Bring a snack to share if you’d like – or just bring yourself. This is a fun time to learn about some new wines and enjoy conversation with other parishioners.
Social Justice Ministry Meeting – March 19
A reminder to members of the Social Justice Ministry that there is a meeting on March 19 at 6:30 PM on Zoom. If you are interested in being a part of this ministry, contact the parish office.
Cravens Coffee – Price Increase
The cost of Cravens Coffee that we purchase for parish use has increased in price. The cost of the St. Ann blend coffee that is available for parishioners to purchase (which helps us keep our contract with Cravens Coffee) is now $11.00 a pound. Thank you for your understanding.
Safety & Security at St. Ann
Due to concerns about safety and security at St. Ann, the staff has decided to change the door codes for the buildings on our campus. The new safety policy is that only staff will have the codes for the church and parish house. Please contact Elizabeth or Dianne to arrange entry into these spaces for meetings, etc.
Get Reminders About Parish Events
If you would like to receive reminder messages about upcoming parish events, so you don’t hear about events after the fact – we have a new tool to help. We are using a program called “Remind” that is very easy to sign up for. Just text saintanncc to 81010 – or follow this link https://www.remind.com/join/saintanncc – and sign up as a “student” to join.
Creation Care Corner
“The effects of climate change are borne by the most vulnerable people, whether at home or around the world”. Pope Francis, Laudate Deum (3)
Sustainability is at the heart of ecological conversion. It reflects a commitment to caring for our common home and ensuring justice for future generations. It helps the Catholic community lead by example by embracing the “Less is More” paradigm and seeking to reduce our footprint to zero, in response to the urgency of the climate and ecological crises. This vision aligns deeply with the spirit of Lent, a time of reflection, conversion, and sacrifice, where we are called to live simply, fast from excess, and renew our relationship with God, our neighbors, and creation. As we transform our hearts, let’s also work to transform the Earth, making it a place that reflects the justice, peace, and healing that Christ has promised for all of creation. By embracing sustainability, we turn Lenten practices into lasting habits that foster ecological conversion and a more just and harmonious world.
Thank you to the Creation Care Team for sharing with us!
Franciscan Corner
“Make me a channel of your peace…. Where there’s despair in life, let me bring hope…” Francis was a knight of the Great King. He went where the Lord sent him. He was not sure what would be at the end of the journey. He risked being shunned by his father, he risked being ridiculed by the townspeople. But he had in his satchel a great deal of love for the Great King. He had a great deal of courage to follow a voice that not many heard. He was a pilgrim of hope. We are being called to be pilgrims of hope in today’s world. Do we have the courage, are we willing to be shunned or ridiculed or seemingly not heard and yet raise our voices for those whose voices are not being heard? What is yours to do as a pilgrim of hope this Lent?
Thank you to Sr. Joanne for sharing these reflections with us!
