Swahili Mass – September 6

St. Ann celebrates Mass in Swahili on the first Sunday of each month. Join us on Sunday, September 6th for this joyful celebration of Mass.  All are welcome! 

If you would like to contribute donations to the offertory procession, items such as hand sanitizer and masks for the church, or coffee creamer for the hall and laundry detergent for the Corner Laundry, are welcome.

Youth Liturgy – September 13

St. Ann offers a youth liturgy program for preschool and school age youth at the 9:00 AM Sunday Mass during the school year.  This program will begin again on Sunday, September 13.  Thank you to Robbie and Hannah for all their work to make liturgy meaningful to our children and young people.  If you are interested in helping with our youth ministry, contact Robbie or the parish office.  

Season of Creation: September 1 – October 4

We are celebrating the Season of Creation in the parish beginning this weekend. During the Season of Creation we have the opportunity to share and to receive food in a new way…at our Harvest Table. Share from your garden’s abundance, and take what you may enjoy with your family. There are several other events happening during this season, as well – check the calendar for details.  Thank you to the Creation Care Team – and to Fr. Patrick and our musicians – for all their work to make this a special season for our community.

Annual Catholic Appeal – “A Heart that Never Fails” – September 5 & 6

Our parish is joining the diocese in this year’s Annual Catholic Appeal, which begins this weekend, September 5th & 6th. This year’s theme for the ACA is “A Heart that Never Fails.” St. Ann’s goal this year is $37,995.  Your gift to the Appeal helps support many diocesan programs, including our Catholic schools. Please prayerfully consider your gift this year.  If you did not receive a donation envelope in the mail, there are envelopes available in the entry of the church, or you can give online at the diocesan website:   https://www.dioceseofspokane.org/aca

A Stewardship Prayer 

Almighty and ever-faithful God, I gratefully acknowledge your goodness to me and humbly recognize the many ways you have blessed my life. Your mercy and kindness turn my thoughts to gratitude. Please give me the grace I need to respond to your gifts by responsibly caring for them and returning them to you with increase. Help me to be a trustworthy steward. It is my fervent hope that whatever sacrifices I can offer, you will bring them to fulfillment. 

I make this prayer through Christ, our Lord.  Amen. 

Wildfire Relief Special Collection – Thank you! 

Thank you to all those who donated to our special collection on August 8 & 9 for Fire Relief for the Spokane Fires.  We collected $445 and were able to send a check to the Catholic Charities Wildfire Relief fund to support their efforts. Thank you for your generosity.

Eating as a Moral Act

Vote with your Fork. Eat foods that reflect your values and God’s creation.

•  Shop at a Farmers Market. Support local farmers. Eat seasonal foods.
• Choose sustainably-grown or organic foods.
• Support locally-owned grocery stores, restaurants and cooperatives.
• Purchase fairly traded coffee, tea, chocolate, sugar and other fair trade products.
• Choose meat, milk, and eggs from free range, grass fed animals, directly from a farmer.
• Grow a garden, even if only a potted tomato or herb on your patio. Plant fruit trees.
• Start or take part in a community garden – a place where folks meet and grow healthy foods.
• Remember our hungry brothers and sisters. Give to the Food Bank.
• Eat mindfully. Savor your food. Be grateful. Offer a prayer of thanksgiving at each meal.

Sunday Zoom Prayer Service –  7:00 PM

The Sunday evening Zoom prayer service continues to be a prayerful gathering for some of our parishioners. The 7:00 PM service on Sundays is a chance to pray and share together. Contact the parish office at communityofstann@gmail.com  if you are interested in attending this prayer service.

Kiwanis Club of East Spokane Fundraiser – December 2

Kiwanis Club of East Spokane has supported the St. Ann Sunday Lunch Program with grants in the past.  Support the work of the Kiwanis Club of East Spokane and the Mission Community Outreach Center in Spokane as they present a Civic Theater Benefit performance of Cinderella on December 2, 2026.  Happy Hour is at 6:00 PM, followed by the performance at 7:30 PM.  Call or email MCOC at 509 536-1084 or mcoc.spokane@gmail.com for tickets. 

Youth Safety Reminder – Message from Parish Staff 

Father Patrick and the Parish staff are concerned about children’s safety at St. Ann. We ask parents and guardians to ensure that an adult accompanies children to the restroom in the hall during Mass. Adults are also encouraged to supervise children playing on church grounds after Mass and during events to prevent accidents. Please note that the church and parish house are not designated play areas, and eating is permitted only in the hall or outside. Donuts should be enjoyed in these areas, not inside the church. Thank you for helping us maintain a safe environment and for respecting our sacred spaces.

Restroom Usage During Mass 

The restroom key has been moved to the west side door of the church for easier access. To ensure children’s safety, adults must accompany all children to the restroom in the parish hall during Mass. Thank you for helping us keep everyone safe!
