Social Justice Ministry Education Series
The Social Justice Ministry is putting together an education series called “A Change is Gonna Come” – named after a song rooted in sorrow and hope. This series began last Sunday with a screening of a short film called Mother Kuskokwim (For those unable to attend, a link to this short documentary can be found below.) The education series will continue with a two-part talk about the issue of Christian Nationalism on Sunday February 2nd and 16th, after Mass in the church.

St. Ann Corner Laundry
The Corner Laundry in the parish hall is now operational and staffed on Sundays from 10:30 AM – 2:30 PM. We are grateful for the very generous grant from Avista that has allowed us to open this laundry for our neighbors at Sunday Lunch to use. Thank you to all those who have worked so hard to get this project up and running, and for those who are staffing the Corner Laundry.
Bishop Daly at St. Ann – March 16

Immigration Resources from Catholic Charities
In consultation with the most reliable information and Church teaching from the USCCB, the Catholic Legal Immigration Network (CLINIC), and Catholic Charities USA, our local Catholic Charities leaders have offered the basic resources to support our parishioners and community. Below is a Know Your Rights document they have provided. Please reach out to the parish staff with any concerns or more resources or assistance.
Creation Care Corner
“[In regard to the environment] One authoritative source of oversite and coordination is the law, which lays down rules for admissible conduct in the light of the common good.” Pope Francis, Laudato Si’ (177)
The Eastern Washington Legislative Conference was held this past weekend. It is a gathering of (mostly) active church members who care about social action and the common good. We were informed of bills that will come before the legislature which might further the common good. Since this column is written with regard to the climate and climate action, we will inform you of one bill that has been introduced in the Washington State Legislature and ask you to write to your legislators to vote in favor. It is called Recycling Reform Act: HB 1150/SB 5284. This bill would:
-Incentivize producers to use reusable, recyclable, or compostable packaging
-Reduce the use of plastic, and overall reduction in the amount of packaging, will help decrease our reliance on fossil fuels and reduce emissions associated with the production of these materials.
-Provide free universal recycling services for Washingtonians (all who currently have curbside pickup and recycling service).
-Reduce confusion by developing a clear common list of what can be recycled statewide and ensuring that product labels reflect actual recyclability in Washington.
Thank you to the Creation Care Team for sharing with us!
Franciscan Corner
We know well the words of St Francis, “make me a channel of your peace… Where there’s despair in life let me bring hope…”
Who needs hope in their lives today? Today—not tomorrow, not next week, not sometime in the future but TODAY. Pope Francis is asking us to be pilgrims of hope during 2025—a jubilee year, a Holy Year. Pilgrims—those on a journey. Hope longing for something better than the current reality. Look around. Who in your family needs hope? Who in your neighborhood, or at your workplace, or in our city. Driving thru town, we see many people standing on street corners, no job, no home, no hope. What action can you take to give them some hope? A smile, a kind word that recognizes their humanity, a cup of coffee that gives them a little warmth, attending a city council meeting and advocating for some local action to help these, “the least of our brethren.” What action are you willing to take? “As long as you did it for one of these…”
Thank you to Sr. Joanne for sharing these reflections with us!
